Frédérique Constant is proud and honored to have been selected as the Official Timekeeper of The Peking to Paris Motor Challenge, taking place from September 10th till October 16th, 2010.
Frédérique Constant will be the exclusive sponsor of this legendary and prestigious classic car event, of which the first edition took place as far back as 1907.
The idea for the race came from a challenge published in the Paris newspaper Le Matin on January 31st 1907, that stated:
“What needs to be proved today is that as long as a man has a car, he can do anything and go anywhere. Is there anyone who will undertake the challenge to travel from Peking to Paris by automobile?”
The route for the 2010 edition of ‘The Ultimate Driving Adventure’ runs from the Great Wall in China, through Mongolia, then briefly into Russia before turning south west into Kazakstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and via Turkey, Greece and Italy into France to finish on the famous Place Vendôme in Paris. The trail follows the historic Silk Route and the participating drivers will have days off in fabled cities such as Almaty and Samarkand.
During this extremely demanding road rally, no less than 230 drivers and navigators – and their 165 classic and vintage cars dating from the 1920s to the 1960s – will cover over 16’000 km (9’000 miles) in approximately five weeks time.
For Frédérique Constant, sponsoring the Peking to Paris Motor Challenge forms an exciting and logical new chapter in its history of being part of classic car events around the world. If there is one element that is required to take part in the Peking to Paris Rally, it is true Passion. It is this same Passion that guides Frédérique Constant on its highly successful journey through the world of luxury watchmaking.
Under the premise of its slogan ‘Live your Passion’ the brand encourages people around the world to follow their passion. Being part of The Great Peking to Paris Expedition perfectly reflects this devotion. All participating cars will bear the Frédérique Constant logo, and both the driver and the navigator of the winning equippe will be awarded with an exclusive Frédérique Constant timepiece, upon their glorious arrival in Paris.
We wish all teams wisdom and the best of luck on their extraordinary journey!

Hey …..
I am not sure if you remember me or not, but my brother and I met you in Bloomingdale’s New York (59th Street) a few weeks ago. We picked out a watch from you for our retiring employee who had been with our company for over 40 years. We ended up selecting the Heart Beat watch and I just wanted to let you know that he absolutely LOVED it. He wears it with such pride. Thank you so much for making the process so easy and for all your help. It is much appreciated.
If you are ever in New York again, please feel free to stop by our showroom. It would be a pleasure to see you again.
I hope you are well and wish you all the best for the new year.

Frederique Constant is excited to announce that the Healey Challenge Canada 2009 in Kingston, Ontario, also known as The Year of the Healey-Loyalist was a huge success for both Frederique Constant as well as for the more than 550 people that were in attendance. Over 230 Healey cars could be admired during numerous activities, and also a number of Healey watches was on display. The crowd at the display booth was evidence that the Healey watches are highly desired, specifically the models created for this year’s event featuring the event logo on the back of the watch.
While it is obvious Healey owners are passionate about their cars, they also love their Frederique Constant Healey watches. One fan in particular purchased the first edition Healey watch back in 2004, and has purchased all since then, including this year’s models!
As the Official Timing Partner & Premier Sponsor of the event, Frederique Constant was honored to offer Limited Edition Healey watches to “Best of Show” and to the only finisher of an equippe of more than 20 cars, to complete the descerning “Time, Speed, Distance Rally”.
It was again exciting to be part of such an event and to meet so many interesting & passionate people, that do not only love cars, but also watches!
We are looking forward to next year’s Healey Event… See you all then!

Please find herewith a selection of notes on Frederique Constant and its product, randomly found on the internet.
From www.worldwatchreview.com:
What really stands this watch [Maxime Manufacture Automatic] out of the crowd, is its movement. You see, most brands in this price range (the watch will retail below €2000, by the way) are usually powered by standard ETA movements with standard complication modules supplied by third-party manufacturers like, say, Dubois-Depraz. The FC MMA is powered by the company’s own FC-700 in-house movement and, although its accuracy and reliability still have to pass the test of time, this makes it THE most exclusive affordable watch on the market.
From www.geekwatches.com:
Frederique Constant rarely releases new watches but this time they are presenting us with a classic looking timepiece that many watch enthusiasts would definitely love. This watch is called as the Frederique Constant Maxime Manufacture Automatic.
This Frederique Constant Maxime Manufacture Automatic Watch is an elegant timepiece that also has a classic look on it. This timepiece is made of steel that can be seen on its case and bezel. This material also creates a luxurious glow which makes it very irresistible. Like any other elegant watches, this watch is also matched with a brown alligator leather strap.
The watch includes a white dial with silver accents found on the luminescent coated hour numbers and hands. This also has a sunray detailing on the center which makes this watch more attractive. Furthermore, there is a separate date indicator found on the 6 o’clock position to complete its functions.
This elegant timepiece from Frederique Constant is definitely a watch to include in your collection. Wear this for a more elegant look in your casual or formal outfit.
From www.watchtime.com:
Five years ago, Frédérique Constant joined the circle of Swiss brands that develop and produce their movements in-house. For 2009, Frédérique Constant introduces its Maxime Manufacture Automatic featuring the all-new, in-house manufactured FC-700 automatic caliber. Outside, the 42mm diameter case offers polished and matte surfaces. A sapphire crystal covers a silver guilloché dial.
Priced at only $2550 in steel or $3550 in steel/rose gold capped, the Maxime offers classic good looks and excellent value for a Swiss-made watch with a manufacture movement. The Maxime is available at retailers now.
From www.swisstime.org:
Frédérique Constant Genève is establishing itself as one of Switzerland’s leading watch brands with this creation of a tourbillon with a silicon escape-wheel and, for the first time, an amplitude of over 300 degrees between its vertical and horizontal positions. Coupled with the rapid oscillation, this gives the watch an unusually high level of precision, while the silicon guarantees optimum protection. It is offered in a limited individually-numbered edition of 188. With its technical complexity – for example, the meticulous attention paid to every detail – this timepiece will be around for years to come.
From www.worldwatchreview.com:
Frederique Constant will soon start selling its Runabout limited edition automatic chronograph watch. Available both in stainless steel and in rose gold plated, the watch pays homage to the 1920s: the Golden Age that preceded the Great Depression.
The watch is powered by Frederique Constant’s FC-392 chronograph movement based on the famous (and quite expensive) ETA Valjoux 7750 25 jewel automatic caliber. Beating at 28,800 alternations per hour, the movement features power reserve of 42 hours, Glucydur balance and Incablock anti-shock protection.
The movement is hidden inside a 43 mm stainless steel case. Its caseback cover is made of solid steel but nevertheless features FC’s trademark porthole-styled cutout exhibiting a part of the finely decorated movement.
Unlike most chronographs in the sub-2000 Euro price range, the Frederique Constant Runabout watch features a classic, unobtrusive design. Although its three mandatory chronograph dials are nicely blended into the dial, their readings are absolutely legible and wouldn’t require excessive concentration.
Like the “Healey Le Mans” Limited Edition timepiece, this one is also available in a gift box with a miniature copy of a Runabout yacht.
As usual, Frederique Constant offers good value for small money.
From www.fratellowatches.com:
Frédérique Constant went from a rather unknown Geneva brand with both quartz and (ETA) mechanical movements to a brand that can add itself to the list of the lucky few [watch brands] with an inhouse mechanical movement. Therefore, Frédérique Constant becomes an interesting target for the more serious watch collectors and buyers.

Frederique Constant has something to be proud about. At the very least it should be something that is exiting to fine watch consumers. While not the only company to offer relatively low cost in-house made movements, their new Maxine Manufacture Collection watches are beautifully made and feature a totally in-house made Swiss movement for under 2000 Euros. Typically the cost for in-house made manufacture movements is much higher.
The new movement is the FC-700 automatic, and is the accumulation of over three years of development. What surprises me is the look and feel of the movement. The focus on aesthetics in the layout of the elements (such as the placement of the balance wheel) is complimented by a level of decoration not expected at these modest price points. The gold rotor, perlage and other polishing, and use of blue screws makes viewing the movement a pleasure. Nothing makes me feel better than taking off my watch and showing it to a friend (especially those that don’t know about watches) – allowing them to discover an impressive mechanical movement visible through a caseback window.
On the dial itself the watch is simple but functional. The decoration again is well done, and the 42mm wide case is a good size. Typically new in-house movements are framed modestly until more and more complications can be features. Still, the dial features a healthy level of guilloche machine engraving, and the applied Arabic hour markers really make the watch feel substantial. Further features like a classically styled tapered crown and curved alligator strap that matches the shape of the case with no gaps are features found on watches costing a lot more. The style of the watch is prefect for anyone looking for a nice sober design that will look good for year, but doesn’t want to call too much attention (but would rather appreciate the subtle benefits of a good watch). I also think that the watch would be good as an entry to luxury watches for anyone. This are things that Frederique Constant are particularly good at, even as they continue to develop their product live.
In the video you can see the watch being displayed and discussed, it is a good looker sure, and people should be aware of what it takes to develop an in-house movement. In this case it is three years. Much of that time is dedicated to testing the movement to ensure accuracy and reliability over the long run. Brands like Nomos (German) have been making in-house movements for a while that have a prices similar to that of Frederique Constant. However, those watches lack some of the decoration that Swiss watches are known for. Further, the automatic Nomos watch movements typically run higher than these FC-700 movements. So while lower cost in-house movements aren’t unprecedented, Frederique Constant is certainly adding its own special elements to the industry’s overall offerings. No doubt that future models with in-house movements from Frederique Constant will build off of the FC-700 movement with additional complications.
