Los Angeles, California (September 27, 2012) – Swiss luxury watch manufacture Frédérique Constant will heighten awareness on World Heart Day this Saturday, September 29th in Los Angeles with Chinese Movie star Ms Shu Qi, Frédérique Constant brand ambassador for Greater China since 2008. In collaboration with California’s luxury retailer Chong Hing Jewelers, a public donation ceremony held at Chong Hing’s San Gabriel location will mark the official announcement of Frédérique Constant’s first-ever partnership with The World Heart Federation.
Following the successful launch of Amour collection designed by ShuQi, Frédérique Constant takes a glamorous twist in 2012, based on the exquisite design. The brilliance and beauty of Pavée Amour inevitably captures all the attention.
Jewelry has long been associated with eternity, which also represents the eternal value of Frédérique Constant timepieces – classic and sophisticated. The pavé set of diamond on the dial makes a bold appearance and simultaneously adds feminine quality to the Pavée Amour collection. There are two versions available, featuring with rose gold plated or stainless steel case, set with 90 full-cut diamonds, with VS clarity, H color on dial and 48 diamonds on case. Glittering on the wrist, women with Frédérique Constant new Pavée Amour timepieces are under spotlight in different occasions.
Pavée Amour is available in limited editions of 888 pieces. Driven by great passion, Frédérique Constant ambassador ShuQi designs and creates her very own range of timepieces with Frédérique Constant workshop in Geneva. The new models have a fine decoration with a pavé set of diamonds the center and mother of pearl outer ring finishing. The charmingly written ‘Amour’ decoration with iconic diamond-set heart shaped opening at 12 o’clock, which reveals the beating of the balance of the movement. This highly decorated automatic caliber will seduce women appreciating fine Swiss watchmaking art.
ShuQi has been Frédérique Constant’s Ambassador for Greater China since 2008. ShuQi shares the same passion and classic beauty with Frédérique Constant, and she agreed the brand philosophy of “Live your Passion”.
Frédérique Constant joined hands with ShuQi, the international movie star, to participate in different charitable events and convey the message with her great impact in Asia. In 2011, ShuQi visited the Frédérique Constant Manufacture in Geneva to settle the final details of her own designed Amour collection. In days gone by, it was the “man about town” who had the respect and admiration of his peers. These fine gentlemen wore pinstripe suits, with colourful ties, shiny shoes and invariably a classy wristwatch. Nowadays, the man about town has become a man of the world, and while the clothes may have changed, the presence of a handsome, classic, elegant watch is still very much part of the gentleman’s ensemble.
Following on from the successful launch of our Ladies’ Slimline Collection, Frederique Constant is delighted to present the limited edition gentlemen’s Slimline Tourbillon Manufacture. With an appearance that is at once classical and timeless,
while at the same time fresh and modern, this new model perfectly illustrates all that is good, all that is exciting, and all that is unique about Frederique Constant timepieces.
Individually numbered, only 188 of each Slimline Tourbillon Manufacture model will be available to the public. Each will be presented in a beautiful wooden gift box, and features a technologically advanced manufacture movement that is unique to Frederique Constant, the silicium escapement wheel and lever.

Frederique Constant introduces the ‘Venice Editions’ of the Runabout, consisting of a Chronograph version and a Three-hand Automatic with date. Both timepieces feature a stainless steel case and a silvered dial with applied, rose gold plated Arabic indexes. A light brown strap with off-white stitching accentuates the rose gold plated indexes on the dial. Our Italian clientele defined this sophisticated combination of design elements. This year Frederique Constant hosts the Runabout Challenge in Venice, Italy, so it was only logical to design the Runabout Venice Edition, based on the input from the Italian market. The outcome is a beautiful collection! But then again, it’s not for nothing that Italy has always been famous for its sense of style…

Modern luxury culture fueled by commercialism seems to advocate purchases of luxury items at very high prices. Some people seem to focus only on how expensive an item is instead of focusing on its value. This unfortunate practice has eroded the true traditions of luxury where price was ultimately the function of the intrinsic value and quality of the item being purchased.
By definition accessible luxury refers to items of luxury which are available at an accessible price, however to some the idea of accessibility seems alien when the subject of luxury is discussed. Take for example the undiscerning buyer who might have the financial wherewithal to purchase an expensive product without understanding the finer details about its intrinsic qualities. For about 20-30 years, Swatch has been the supplier of mechanical movements and their components for most of the Swiss watch industry. Despite its historical relationship, Swatch would like to reduce deliveries of calibers and assortments.
The watch industry has always been a horizontally organized industry. Also the Swatch Group purchases many parts, caliber anti-shock systems, rubies in calibers, dials, cases, etc from specialized manufacturers. Many factories that produce these components are shared by multiple brands, including Frederique Constant and Swatch Group brands. The horizontal organization of the Swiss watch industry has been one of the key drivers for the comeback after the nearly fatal Quartz Crisis in the 1970-1980’s.
